The film industry shine in the Padma Awards announced by the Central Government on the occasion of Republic Day. The Centre has crowned the giants who have brought glory to Indian cinema with the highest awards. The late Bollywood actor ‘Heyman’ Dharmendra has been posthumously awarded the country’s second highest award, the ‘Padma Vibhushan’.

The Centre has honoured the late actor Dharmendra, who cultivated action, emotion and romance in equal measure and made ‘Hey Man’ a home in the hearts of crores of people, with the ‘Padma Vibhushan’. Dharmendra left us last year. This highest award was announced on the occasion of Republic Day this year in memory of his services to the art world.

Actor Dharmendra, who came to Mumbai from Punjab and achieved stardom without any film background, started his film journey in the 1900s and acted in blockbuster films like Pole, Dharam Veer, Sita Aur Geeta, Mupke Chupke. He was the pioneer of the trend of being a man. He was also involved in public service as an MP. His wife Hema Malini expressed her happiness over Dharmendra being awarded the Padma Vibhushan award.

Padma Bhushan for Malayalam megastar:
The legendary actor who took the fame of South cinema to the national level, Malayalam megastar Mammootty, has been awarded the prestigious ‘Padma Bhushan’. The Centre has awarded him the title of ‘Padma Bhushan’ for his acting prowess, which has been thrilling the audience with diverse roles for five decades. Mammootty’s career, which began as a lawyer and later became an actor, has reached the highest position in the film industry.

A voice that made the 90s roar:

Ulka, who started singing songs on All India Radio at the age of six, created a sensation with the song ‘X League’ in the movie Jazz. She has won two National Awards and seven Ere Peer Awards for Best Female Singer for Hindi and Telugu songs. Her voice is still loved by the audience.

Recognition for versatile services:
Senior actor and producer Maganti Murali Mohan, who is known for his gentleness in the Telugu film industry, has been awarded the Padma Shri for his services to the industry, starting his acting career as a hero and as a character artist, producer and president of the Movie Artist Association.
Murali Mohan, who made his debut with the film, has acted in more than 350 films. He has produced quality films under the banner of Jayabheri Arts. He has been a big supporter of the industry and many artists. He previously served as Raju Mandri MP. My ambition is to help the poor as much as I can.


Pratibha Patta
The Centre has honoured R Madhavan, who rose to fame as Chocolate Boy and became an exceptional actor and director, with the Padma Shri. He is a Souther without any language barrier. This award is a testament to his talent, who has equally impressed the North Indian audience.
Madhavan, who has become the prince of girls’ dreams, has experimented without getting stuck in that image. His acting in films like ‘3 Idiots Vikram Vedha’ is amazing. His self-directed film ‘Rocketry The Nambi Effect’ won him a National Award along with critical acclaim. His understanding of scientific and technological matters and his dedication to cinema have brought him to this level.

Padma Award for Laughter
The Centre has honoured ‘Neta Kiriti Rajendra Prasad, who redefined comedy on the Telugu screen and later received praise as a character artist, with the Padma Shri. He made a generation laugh as a hero and is now entertaining in the roles of father and grandfather. The film ‘Ladies Tailor’ directed by Vamsi turned Rajendra Prasad’s career around. He became a comedy king with the films ‘Aha Na Pellanta, Appula Apparao’. The world saw the perfect actor in him with the film ‘Aa’ Vaarao’.
